NewTemp starts today and has to go through the abbreviated orientation we give to temps and consultants — parking, passwords, etc. As we talked with the office manager, NewTemp asked if this is a completely smoke-free building.

Huh? Do they still make the other kind?

The gent is certainly older than I by a fair amount and so, perhaps, remembers a different set of workplace standards and expectations. I, apparently, expect everyone to drink protein shakes for breakfast and lunch on sprouts and beans.

Point taken, Reality…cease that dreadful knocking.

(We do not discriminate against smokers, I should add. There’s a protected alcove with a bench. Outside, of course.)
