Huh. Going by the change on my incorrect-but-consistently-so scale, eating mindfully has taken off about 4 or 5 pounds. I haven’t been exercising much since the Pinky Incident — any kind of pressure on the muscles in my right arm made me feel like all of my insides were going to shoot out through my [...]

You may not care what I had for lunch today, but I do. Toasted sandwich with homemade wheat bread, leftover grilled portobello, leftover (non-local) mozzarella, and balcony basil. Mmmm…

We hit the Courthouse Farmers Market this morning at about 8:15, so chosen because I have a hankering to roast a chicken this week and EcoFriendly Foods was likely to have some fresh roasters on hand. This weekend’s haul: Additional:

I’m registered for two classes during the summer session at Hopkins: Research & Writing Methods (required) Communication.org: Not-for-Profits in the Digital Age (elective) They start the first week of June, as, I imagine, will my DC-driving complaints. At least there’s a garage with a special student rate. All I have to do is breathe deeply [...]

Actually, the bleeding started on Saturday, when I neglected to follow the very clear safety instructions on my mandolin. But I don’t think U2 has a song about bleeding on Saturdays, and it was still bleeding just as much on Sunday, so there you are. I wrapped my poor pinky as well as I could [...]

I have never missed my grandparents’ farms as much as I do this week. I am totally comfortable with the natural food chain. I grew up on and around farms, and I can look into a cow’s face, scratch it behind the ears, and eat it for dinner (I’ve only proven that with a rabbit, though). [...]

I’m currently engaged in an experiment with my digital poundage measurer. I know that the surface beneath the scale can affect the results, so I measured my weight on the four different floor surfaces in my apartment the other day: linoleum, carpet (which I highly recommend), and in two places on the bathroom tile. Results? A 7-pound range. [...]

I’m going back to school. I’ve been accepted to Johns Hopkins University for the master’s in communication program, and I’ll be pursuing a concentration in digital technologies. My company will be paying for it, because I work for an unbelievable company with better education benefits than actual educational institutions and the degree is very, very job-related. Considering [...]
